This course provides a detailed look at what weight stigma is, how it impacts patients, and what providers can do to create a more welcoming environment for larger-bodied people. By enrolling in this course and watching these brief lessons, you will learn from a diverse coalition of Massachusetts General Hospital doctors, social workers, and nurses.
Through this course, you will gain a better understanding of larger bodied people’s perspective on the health care they receive and how certain stigmas have a negative impact on their outcomes. You will also learn more about specific ways to hold a more inclusive practice and have open, respectful conversations with your patients if they would like to talk about their weight.
On behalf of the Center for Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging at Massachusetts General Hospital, whose members made this course possible, we thank you for watching!
